The road less traveled
Culled from the manuscript of my new book 'The Tramp'
I knew my time was short, and i desperately desired to leave my markings, my foot prints on the sands and my writings on the wall. I wanted to let the next generation know that i was here, that i was not one of those comers and goers. Above all these a desire stirred, my passion for my fellow human beings, how they wallowed in the darkness of ignorance and like blind people they groped around.
I saw the suffering and oppression of my fellow human beings and could not stand it. But what could i do? I was a nobody who wanted to be reckoned with, i had lofty ambitions and dreams. I was torn in twos; to respond to the suffering of my fellow man or to seek my own greatness? I looked around and thought 'maybe someone else who do it' but my heart responded 'why not you?'
I also thought what about God, and said to Him 'will you not do something about their plight?' God smiled and said 'i have done all i will' confused i asked 'then why do they still suffer? God replied ' it's because of you' me! No way, i have never hurt anyone before, i do my best to help the sons of men. Finally God said ' i did not send you to just help, i sent you to be a mighty deliverer, to comfort, heal, and reveal the WAY to them.'
Hmmmmmmm
in the words of Robert Frost:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
